BIOGRAPHY ANNA TELCS | HEAD OF COMMUNITY AND INSTITUTIONAL OUTREACH OF NOT JUST A LABEL
Anna Telcs was born in England, and raised in the northwestern corner of the United States in Seattle, Washington a landscape prized for its strides in technology and sustainability. Having studied Humanities at Seattle University (BA), Anna received a BFA in Industrial Design at the University of Washington, finishing top of her class and the recipient of three scholarship grants. Moving to New York Anna went to work in innovative and independent fashion houses, such as Thom Browne and Helmut Lang using her industrial design perspective to create engaging pieces while managing production and learning made to measure. Concerned about the issues building within the industry Anna began creating artwork and costume to reflect her observations. Presenting her work in museums and exhibitions worldwide, highlights include showing at The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum's Works and Process Show, a residency at the prestigious Watermill Center, a solo show at the Henry Art Gallery (the museum at the University of Washington), recipient of a City Artist Grant and acceptance of her work into the permanent collection of the Frye Art Museum (Seattle, WA). From 2008 Anna has worked as a creative consultant for clients such as Microsoft, the Bezos Foundation and Totokaelo while also collaborating with artists in Seattle and New York. Anna has presented her work and lectures across the United States pivoting at the overlap of art and design, forever curious towards fashion’s impact on the human experience. In 2015, Anna came to London to work with NOT JUST A LABEL (NJAL). As the lead for community and institutional projects Anna is excited to be working with independent designers, corporations and government agencies to help simplify fashion’s system.
