Agáta Seeháková: Fashion Meat/ing
23. 5. 2019 – 15. 6. 2019
Opening on 22nd May at 7 PM
NIKA Gallery, Metro B Karlovo náměstí hall (direction Palackého náměstí)
Agáta Seeháková, student at the Fashion and Footwear Design Studio at Prague’s UMPRUM presents a visual project that critically tackles contemporary consumer society.
By laminating and subsequently suspending a dress, made as a part of the Power of Identity project, she creates an installation which evokes in her viewers the image of chunks of meat, hung up after slaughter. Seeháková symbolically criticizes overproduction, the inadequate working conditions in which products are often made and other existing related phenomena. An example being the loss of originality or the conversion of a unique object to just another thing on the line. Nika Gallery becomes a reflection of this decline, the creator of which is none other than man.
