Eliška Hanušová a Hana Sommerová: Kolčavice a Kolasice
The exhibition in cooperation with 8SMIČKA - zone for art
Opening: 23rd August 2019 at 7pm
24. 8. - 14. 9. 2019
NIKA Gallery, Metro B Karlovo náměstí hall (direction Palackého náměstí)
As a part of the cooperation between Humpolecká 8SMIČKA and NIKA, UMPRUM’s small gallery, students and graduates of art schools in Vysočina were given the opportunity to present their work in this atypical exhibition space, located in the lobby of the Prague metro below Palacký Square. The exhibition is a part of the accompanying program of the exhibition Molds, Hills and Highlands: The Loners of Vysočina (8.6. – 29.9.2019).
The installation of Eliška Hanušová from the Studio of Textile at UMPRUM and Hana Sommerová of the Studio of Painting I. at AVU is the second winning project of the summer open call organized by NIKA Gallery in cooperation with the Zone for art 8smička and simultaneously the culmination of the exhibition series, in which the authors explore and confront the expressions of their own creations to now finally result in a joint work.
Similarly as in a fairytale story, to which the name of the exhibition refers, Eliška and Hana consciously observe their own tracks leading to the Vysočina region, where they both studied. By hanging and layering various materials in the NIKA Gallery space, they create a memory of this region, quiet and separated from the surrounding noise. The imprints of real places mix with the imagination and artistic approaches of both authors and result in a monumental spatial collage that offers an escape from the hectic urban environment.
