The anxiety regarding the use of the underground, panicking when in crowds, and the inability to extricate oneself from the circle of fear. What issues do you and the ones close to you face?

The topics depicted on the vases are linked to our everyday life. We commonly encounter apprehension and fear that may even result in a panic attack – a moment of strong anxiety that was caused by no apparent reason. In such moments, one partially loses control of oneself, and tries to escape and never return to that place.

How to battle fear? How about telling somebody, or painting it on vase? What will you be thinking of when the underground starts moving in a moment, facing a dark tunnel?

The vases on display are the result of the final examination of Luisa Bělohlávková in the winter semester of 2017/18. They were created with the aid of the method of casting porcelain into a plaster form, and are painted by hand, using the technique of the cobalt oxide.

Luisa Bělohlávková is a student of the Studio of Ceramics and Porcelain’s bachelor programme at UMPRUM, led by Maxim Velcovsky and his assistant, Milan Pekar. In her work, she mainly takes an interest in the intersections of free artistic creation and design, particularly regarding ceramics.
