Art historian, curator and author Marie de Brugerolle will present her curatorial, pedagogical and critical practice including her concept of Post Performance Future, re-evaluating the experience of performance in the times affected by the "Society of Spectacle"and its dematerialization and exploring the potencies of re-enactment and the crossovers of performance with different media (e.g. film, text, photography and sculpture). In the spring semester of 2018 at UMPRUM in Prague Marie de Brugerolle will give a theoretical and practical course named The Object of Post Performance Future.

 

Marie de Brugerolle is a professor of Art History at ENSBA in Lyon, France.

In her historical work she focuses on Californian conceptual art scene, especially in relation to the European art history. She curated first european retrospectives exhibitions of leading conceptual artists such as John Baldessari, Allen Ruppersberg and Larry Bell. She discovered and analyzed the work of Guy de Cointet (1934–1983), a French-born artist who was part of the progressive Californian conceptual art scene of the 60-ies and the 70-ies.

Marie de Brugerolle collaborated as a curator with leading art institutions like MoMA New York, Centre Pompidou Paris, LACMA Los Angeles.
