Opening: October 16th at 7 p.m.
Duration: October 17th - November 16th
NIKA Gallery, Metro B Karlovo náměstí hall (direction Palackého náměstí)
Minami Nishinaga is a student from the Sculpture Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, who found motivation for studying the demanding Czech language in collecting pleasantly sounding Czech words. She collects various diminutives amongst her friends into a bird feeder, which she now places in the NIKA Gallery.
Birds feeders are filled with grains. But how about filling the feeder with Minami? Minami Nishinaga is a Japanese-born artist who is currently a student of the Visual Arts Master's Program at the Sculpture Studio of UMPRUM. During her studies of the Czech language, Minami discovered specific forms of words whose positive emotional color captivated her and became her motivation for both the study of the demanding Czech and for her artistic work. The focal point of Minami’s project are diminutives which she collects among her friends and classmates into a bird feeder, that she has now placed in the space of the NIKA Gallery, inviting passers-by to contribute and expand her vocabulary with other pleasant sounding Czech words.
