The Product Design Studio reaped success in the Red Dot Award competition. Student Eduard Hermann won the prestigious award for his Ignis collection of light fixtures, which he designed for the Bomma studio. The heads of the studio – the duo Olgoj Chorchoj composed of Michal Froněk and Jan Němeček – took another two awards for their Pocket knives designed for the company Mikov and TIM light fixtures for Bomma, both of which were already awarded in the Czech Grand Design competition.
Eduard Hermann, a student of the Product Design Studio, impressed the jury with his Ignis (Latin for “fire”) collection of lights. The name, together with the pure, simple shape of the lights refers to the author's basic idea – archetypal table lamps transformed into cut crystal. Herrmann made perfect use of a combination of hand-blown crystal and a unique technology of the company Bomma – sophisticated robotic cutting. The precise cutting disperses the light, creating a unique effect that invokes a pleasant atmosphere. The Red Dot panel recognized Ignis as an exclusive object that makes an exceptionally distinctive impression.
