One of the two winners of the Bata Young Designers Challenge competition was Tereza Kanyzová and her Amulet shoe, she is a student of the Studio of Fashion and Footwear Design, which is led by Liběna Rochová. The award-winning shoes will be produced and sold in Bata stores all over the world.
The Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague has participated in the Bata Young Designers Challenge for the second time. Last year, Linda Zabilková and Adam Kost received the award and had their products sold. In 2018, the Italian School Politecnico Calzaturiero was invited to the competition as well and Andrea Celeste Beggio won the award on its behalf.
The students' of UMPRUM created shoes as part of a year-round project inspired by the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia. Besides Bata, they worked with Preciosa, whose crystals and components became part of the designs of all the shoes used in the competition.
The winning Amulet shoes are luxurious elegant slippers. Concept is based on a research through history of Czech jewellery reaching from fragments of anchient amulets to contemporary pieces. Designer works with the contrast between matte suede, synthetic net and glossy crystals. Nets are the main theme of the whole collection that is focused on various methods of tying and knotting them together.
