Students of AAAD’s Textile Design Studio led by Jitka Škopová will exhibit at the 15th International Triennial of Tapestry in Łódź.
The International Triennial of Tapestry in Łódź is the oldest, biggest and most prestigious show in the field of creative textile design, with a history going back to 1972.
Like last year, the show will include presentations by colleges that offer courses in textiles, this year including the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. A choice of two assignments was offered – textile design with a crossover into fine art (art-design) and textile installations. Each university was allowed to delegate only two students for the show. The Triennial will also include a competition that will assess the best projects and pieces.
The programme of the Triennial also includes and international symposium on the topic Young Textiles – Education – Present, Direction, Prognosis for the Future. Among the speakers will be Jitka Škopová, who will give a paper on experimentation in teaching and its possibilities in seeking new paths of thinking, and Markéta Vinglerová, who will talk on traditions in teaching textile design. The symposium and series of lectures takes place on Tuesday May 10.
AAAD will be represented this year by the student Aneta Dvořáková, who won the internal studio competition in the context of the term assignment for the higher years. Her piece, The Womanhood, makes use of one of the most typical items of ladies’ wear – nylon stockings – via which she finds a very personal and eloquent path to the identity of femininity.
The second part of the studio’s presentation will be on its current strong theme of experimental textiles.
