UMPRUM has a new rector. He is prof. Jindřich Vybíral.
From February 1st, 2019, Prof. PhDr. et PaedDr. Jindřich Vybíral, CSc was appointed as Rector of the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague. He now takes his turn after the former rector Prof. ak. arch. Jindřich Smetana.
The new rector of UMPRUM Prof. Vybíral plans to continue the work of his predecessor and, in addition to the Mikulandská project, he wants, for example, to continue the preparation of a program for the restoration of applied art, intensify cooperation with industry and further support artistic research. In addition, he wants to deepen the topic of internationalization, expand interdisciplinary cooperation and focus on social responsibility.
The commencement of the new Rector will not bring about major changes in the school leadership. Only Professor Jiří Pelcl as Vice-Rector for Communication and International Relations will be replaced by the current head of the Studio of Type Design and Typography and the Head of the Department of Graphic Arts MgA. Radek Sidun. Remaining in their functions from now on will be Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies Ing. Jarmila Kemrová, Vice-Rector for Science and Research Mgr. Cyril Říha, Ph.D, and Bursar Mgr. Petr Pelcl.
