Zuzana Kalips: ~
18. 4. 2019 – 18. 5. 2019
Opening on April 17 at 7 PM
NIKA Gallery, Metro B Karlovo náměstí hall (direction Palackého náměstí)
The project of Zuzana Kalips is inspired by the metro station as a place of motion, sound and speed. The site-specific installation reacts to the vibrations arising out of this place and converts them into a visual record, thus reflecting the given time and space.
The project of Zuzana Kalips is closely intertwined with the space in which Gallery Nika is located. The subway station as a place full of speed, sound and vibration, which is also capable of reflecting time and space through human movement. The site-specific installation responds to the infinite cycle of this transport junction and converts it through simple mechanical motion into a visual record. With the help of an aperture made of drawn glass - a material that, under certain conditions, can function as a filter, the visual record is then transformed and deformed into a unique scene. The result is a fusion of movement, time and place and their physical encapturing.
