The K.O.V. Studio cordially invites you to a lecture by designer François Chambard, who will present his work and approach to design. The talk will also serve as an introduction to a five-day workshop led by François Chambard for students of the K.O.V. Studio.
The lecture will be held in English.
François Chambard is a designer and maker with an interest in materiality in all possible terms. Through his studio, UM Project, and the initiative unblock.space, he focuses on experimental approaches to object design, either as a solo practitioner or in collaboration with local communities. Projects range from the self-production of unusual goods, to the exploration of how objects can be used as instruments of knowledge to understand and shape the relations between people and things. To illustrate his position and trajectory, François will present how design has evolved from Products to Prototypes to Pro-tests using examples of his own work and beyond, as well as drawing on theory. François shares his time between Brooklyn and Vermont. While François practiced a long time as a self-taught designer, he recently graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven (NL) with a Master in Contextual Design.
