Future Front Row in collaboration with Amsterdam Fashion Academy and FashionTEX Europe, organised a groundbreaking hologram fashion show event, merging digital and physical craftsmanship to redefine  fashion education. This first-of-its-kind initiative brought together 12 leading European fashion schools, 24 emerging designers, and a network of pioneering digital fashion experts and innovators, culminating in the world’s first holographic fashion show showcasing student creations, hosted at Fabrique des Lumières on November 20th, 2025 in Amsterdam.

“Future Front Row was born from the desire to make digital fashion more tangible: to experience a fashion show featuring pieces that defy the physical world. This edition brought together digital and physical approaches in a form we have never seen before,” says digital artist and Future Front Row founder Isabelle Udo.

With the support of experts from the FashionTEX programme and Future Front Row, students worked with emerging technologies, including CLO 3D (digital fashion software), 3D printing, and laser cutting, to rethink how fashion can be presented in a more innovative, sustainable, and immersive way. In addition to creating a digital twin of their design, each student was also tasked with producing a physical garment — either as a complement to the digital model or as a creative dialogue with it. This approach encouraged deeper storytelling and new interpretations of the creative narratives behind their work.

Amsterdam Fashion Academy organized and hosted the fashion show in Amsterdam, bringing academic depth to the FashionTEX project through specialized masterclasses focused on CLO 3D and its extensive industry connections. As Cristiano Carciani, Director of Amsterdam Fashion Academy, explains: “This project reflects our academy’s mission — to prepare the next generation for a future that is already taking shape. Technology and craftsmanship are not opposites; they strengthen one another. Our students demonstrated how digital tools can expand the boundaries of fashion.”

More than 400 guests, including fashion leaders, digital creators, educators, and alumni, gathered to witness this bold vision. Among them was Kristina Szasz, a senior executive in the luxury and lifestyle sector, member of advisory boards and international juries, who praised the show by saying: “The looks almost floated down the runway in an ethereal and surreal presentation. It was magical to watch.”
