Studio of Fine Arts 1 cordially invites you to the opening of the garden behind the GAMPA gallery in Pardubice, which was created as part of the studio's semester project. The students of the studio participated in the construction of the garden and created several site-specific objects, interventions and performances that will be on display during the opening.
“Brownfields” refer to land, sites or buildings that are not used in any way, and which often arise as a by-product - a remnant of construction, industrial, military or other activities. At the same time, urban brownfields are becoming a lucrative investment opportunity for the construction of residential apartments or office complexes, but at the same time they could become public space again (a park or urban oasis - a place to relax on hot summer days). It is this possibility of brownfields as potential public spaces for gathering or community gardening that is the focus of the project AFTERLAND , which creates a temporary garden behind the GAMPA gallery and addresses, among other things, the question of how to relate to these types of (un)places from an artistic and civic position.
The opening ceremony and initiation of the garden will take place on Friday 23 May 2025 from 16:00 to 20:00. The programme will include a presentation of student projects and the first common dinner.
