Architektura I
Jaké vědomosti, vzhledem k současné sociální a ekologické krizi, dnes skutečně potřebujeme?
Tyto otázky aplikuje Ateliér A1 na současnou architektonickou praxi, v níž se díky „materiálovému obratu“ stírají rozdíly mezi výkony architektů*ek, archivářů*ek, kartografů*ek, inženýrů*ek a historiků*ček.
Ateliér podporuje vytváření rozličných forem zabývajících se materialitou a paradigmatem oprav a zachování z hlediska ontologického, ekologického a systémového navrhování. Projekty jsou situovány do „kontaminovaných“ či potenciálně znehodnocených míst, představujících riziko či důsledek neudržitelného rozvoje.
Aktuální semestr ZS 26/27 probíhá ve spolupráci s ateliérem Textil a platformou Shift
Zadání: Ignored technologies: the rural context as a field of relations
In academic debate and spatial practice, the urban has become the dominant model for understanding
human settlement. Yet rural landscapes are deeply entangled in global systems of capital, labour, logistics, agriculture, and information. Far from peripheral, they are shaped by the same planetary forces that produce urban life. The rural is not untouched nature, but a cultivated field of relations between human and more-than-human worlds.
The A1 studio will investigate practices, research, and ecological perspectives on spaces of production in
rural contexts, asking whether rural conditions might reveal alternative rhythms, ignored technologies and
forms of coexistence that can help us unlearn urbanisation.
This semester is organized in collaboration with the Ignored Technologies Program, a collaborative,
interdisciplinary educational initiative by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM). The program examines overlooked or obsolete techniques and materials, connecting traditional methods with ecological and circular approaches in architecture and design. We will collaborate across borders in workshops, lectures, and labs during the winter and summer semesters 2026-2027. We will work closely with UMPRUM’s Textile Studio, led by Linda Kaplanová and Martin Pondělíček, during the second semester, but will join together already this winter during workshops, lectures and readings.
