As part of the lecture series, the following guests will be featured:
November 6, 6:30 PM (Room 115, Nám. Jana Palacha) – Lukáš Likavčan, Rachel Pearl, and Stephanie Sherman
A trio of researchers and designers will present the design-research project Earthsuits, currently based at UAL Central Saint Martins, which explores clothing and wearable technologies as tools for climate adaptation. The lecture is organized in collaboration with Studio of Fine Arts III. More information here.
November 21, 6:30 PM (Cinema 311, TCM Mikulandská) – Folke Köbberling
Artist and educator Folke Köbberling, based at the Institute for Architecture-Related Art at the Technical University of Braunschweig (Germany), will discuss the relationship between humans and the built environment as mediated by natural materials such as raw wool and clay. The lecture is organized in collaboration with Studio of Architecture I.
November 27, 6:30 PM (Cinema 311, TCM Mikulandská) – Asia Bazdiryeva
Researcher Asia Bazdiryeva, based at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, will speak about the relationship between sociotechnical concepts on one hand and bodies and land on the other. Her work explores imaginaries of sustainability and their concrete manifestations within a world interwoven with political interests and military conflict.
December 4, 6:30 PM (Cinema 311, TCM Mikulandská) – Barbara Mayer
Architect Barbara Mayer will focus on the development of housing and landscape architecture in Vienna. She will introduce the work of the municipal organization she is part of, which engages in urban renewal projects and connects spatial planning with culture and social work. The lecture is organized in collaboration with the Centre for Doctoral Studies.
All lectures will be held in English.
