At a time when content is created in a matter of minutes and products change with every season, speed has become a taken-for-granted value. Yet we often overlook what truly goes into making the things we use. It was precisely this superficial pace and constant rush that inspired designer Jakub Pollág and his team at zeitgeist.limited to create the documentary channel WITT – Why It Takes Time.
After fifteen years of experience in design and five years of bespoke production, they felt the need to slow down—and to show that quality does not happen overnight. WITT offers an unfiltered look behind the scenes of product design, craftsmanship, and manufacturing. Without embellishment, without effects, and without pressure for instant results. It reveals, for example, why producing a single table can take 250 hours and cost nearly half a million Czech crowns. Rather than defending luxury, WITT highlights the value of time, material, and honest work. The project is not only about presentation, but also about investing in initiatives and activities with a broader social impact.
Behind WITT is not just design, but a clear stance—a response to the culture of haste, consumerism, and instant consumption. The aim of the project is to inspire a deeper understanding of the creative process and to support local brands and craftsmen who work with respect for both material and time.
WITT is therefore not just a documentary about making things. It is an invitation to slow down, to look more closely, and to reconsider what quality truly means—and why it is worth protecting.
