The UMPRUM Biennial: Generation Z will take place at the National Gallery Prague, Trade Fair Palace, presenting a cross-section of recent works by students from across all departments of the school.
The exhibition will present the topics and styles embraced by Generation Z, i.e. the youngest generation of UMPRUM students, born between 1994 and 2004. It reflects on the generational contingency of these topics, as well as on the specific experience, knowledge and skills, but also concerns peculiar to the youngest creators. The common aspects are sensitively explored here: the blurring of boundaries between the virtual and the real worlds, longing for the world that is gone forever, searching for and uncovering authentic identities, but also self-stylization through digital media. Acknowledging the contributions of the emerging creative generation in the fields of architecture, design, and art can serve as the basis for mutual intergenerational understanding and collaboration both within the academy and externally, in the framework of various formal and informal structures. The exhibition presents the entire scope of disciplines and media taught at UMPRUM, from architecture and design, through graphic design, animation and fashion, to free art and the theory of art and design.
