The 2025 edition of The New Real summer school at UMPRUM successfully merged digital innovation with fashion design fundamentals. Over eight intensive days, participants from diverse backgrounds immersed themselves in 3D garment creation using CLO3D, exploring: avatar customization & digital draping, AI-assisted design tools, Sustainable 3D practices (upcycling, zero-waste techniques), Photorealistic rendering and technical portfolio development
The program balanced structured workshops with creative experimentation, featuring masterclasses by industry leaders like The Augmented Weaving (Anita Michaluzsko and Flavia Bon), d’archive (Martina Ponzoni), The Fabricant and Kim van der Brule. Participants particularly valued the hands-on approach, transitioning seamlessly from theoretical concepts to practical 3D outputs.
The course culminated in a final showcase, where students presented digital collections demonstrating technical proficiency (digital twin) and artistic vision (freestyle design). The New Real will return in summer 2026 with extended studio time for deeper experimentation and up-to-date programme.
Special thanks to instructors Ineke Siersema and Žil J Vostalová who organised the course and Katarina Škarabelová in a role of external examiner, and UMPRUM for fostering this cutting-edge exploration of fashion's digital future.
