The QS World University Rankings evaluate the quality of leading universities worldwide. The ranking is intended to help students choose the best university based on as objective criteria as possible. UMPRUM first entered this prestigious ranking in 2018, when it was placed between 151st and 200th among art schools. In 2019, it jumped one hundred places, reaching the 51–100 range. In 2024, it dropped out of the top 100, but still remained the highest-ranked art school among all post-communist countries. Now, UMPRUM is returning to the global elite.

This year, the QS ranking analyzed over 21,000 study programs from 1,900 institutions. From the Czech Republic, 106 entries from 15 universities made it into the comparison.

Art & Design is one of 48 subject areas in which the ranking is conducted. The top position is regularly held by the Royal College of Art in London, followed by the University of the Arts London. Other top spots are typically occupied by American institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Rhode Island School of Design, Parsons School of Design, and others. Among European art schools, only thirty rank higher than UMPRUM; among German universities, for example, only Universität der Künste Berlin does.
