The course Chemistry prepares students for a detailed presentation of the individual materials that make up arts and crafts items and objects of applied arts. This lecture series aims to provide students with an overview of the basic disciplines of chemistry, their challenges, and limitations.

In the winter semester, lectures focus on general and anorganic chemistry, while in the summer semester, students learn the basics of organic materials.

The course Materials, Research, and Applied Chemistry for Conservators-Restorers is intended for the follow-on master's program. In this course, students will become familiar with the chemical and technological research of historical, modern, and contemporary materials from the perspective of their interpretation for conservation-restoration work, as well as with precise information about the work with the aim defining the causes of its damage and degradation.
