Magdalena Seppová, a graduate of the Studio of Fashion Design at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM), received second place in the Apolda European Design Award competition. She was awarded for her graduation project KOMOREBI, which explores the space between analog and digital creation in the context of industrial knitting.

The main theme of Magdalena’s project is the connection between the precision and rationality of industrial processes and the slowness, imperfection, and creative spontaneity of analog creation. The project focuses on authorial knitwear that combines technological innovation with an artistic approach. The practical part includes research into multilayer knitting, experimentation with unconventional materials such as monofilament and effect yarns, and the application of various knitting techniques on industrial machines. The creative process encompasses all stages, from yarn selection and garment prototyping to the final collection, with an emphasis on sustainability and waste minimization. The aim of the project is to create a collection of knitted garments that represents a symbiosis of garment craftsmanship and technology, preserves a distinctive creative signature, and demonstrates how technological innovations can expand the possibilities of design.
Her collection was evaluated on the competition’s social media as follows: "Her graduation collection “Komorebi” captivates with poetic lightness. Delicate transparent knits, flowing layers, subtle textures, and warm shades of yellow, lime, and orange evoke the feeling of sunlight filtering through trees on a summer morning. The Japanese word “Komorebi” describes precisely this phenomenon: shimmering light breaking through tree canopies. Inspired by Wim Wenders’ film Perfect Days, Seppová transformed quiet observations of everyday beauty into textile form. Particularly impressive is her approach to materials and technique. She combines industrial precision with intentional irregularities, unexpected structures, and spontaneous details—embracing the idea that creativity often emerges where not everything is perfectly controlled. “Komorebi” is therefore far more than a knitwear collection. It is an invitation to slow down, look closer, and rediscover beauty in everyday life—qualities that make this work truly exceptional."
