VALERIE JURČÍKOVÁ - Foam of the Daze

4th year BcA.

In my collection I decided to let myself be inspired by a literary work. I am trying to achieve this by selecting one particular piece of artwork that I attempt to understand in depth. In this case I was inspired by Boris Vian ́s book Foam of the Daze and subsequently the 2013 film of the same name in French (L ́Écume des jours) (Moon Indigo in English) directed by Michael Gondry. The literary work served me mainly as the source of emotional aspects while the film was a very successful visual source of the emotions and moods Vian created. In each section of my work I apply slightly different approaches in terms of colour, choice of materials and making patterns, as well as the final silhouette itself.
