The Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM) took part in the programme of the Czech-German Days of Photography. The portfolio review sessions took place on Thursday, 21 May, at the UMPRUM Technology Centre. Students from photography-focused schools, including those from the Studio of Photography II and the Studio of Fine Arts IV, had the opportunity to consult their projects with distinguished guests such as Prof. Johanna Diehl from the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt; Angelika and Markus Hartmann of Hartmann Books & Projects; Andreas Trampe, co-founder and organiser of Hamburg Portfolio Review; curator, editor and educator Ute Noll; Prof. Roman Bezjak from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences; Denis Brudna from Photonews; photographers and educators Alena Kotzmannová, Libuše Jarcovjáková, Jiří Thýn and Markéta Kinterová; as well as theorist Karel Císař and curator Jiří Ptáček.

The programme also included group visits to the František Drtikol Gallery in Příbram and a selection of current exhibitions in Prague. Among them was Whatever It Takes, an exhibition by Lukáš Skála, a student of the Studio of Photography II, presented at Gallery SPZ.

Special attention was devoted to the exhibition Pixels and Poetics – The Work of Josef Sudek and Jaromír Funke at the Goethe-Institut. Set within the context of contemporary technologies, the exhibition raises questions concerning the manipulation of photography and reality.

The event was organised by the Goethe-Institut in cooperation with UMPRUM, Photonews, and the František Drtikol Gallery Příbram.
