Interviews with students of The New Real Summer course at AMFI 2024
ARIANA, AMFI graduate business & development
What is your advice for someone who wants to start out in creating Digital Fashion?
I think you should not jump into all different software such as Blender, Substance Painter and then Clo3d. Just choose one and focus on that. When you think you are advanced enough, you go to the other software and work on enriching your skills.
ANNEMIEKE, AMFI lecturer business & development
What was the biggest challenge, and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge for me was when I was starting. I was only thinking about product matters, and I realised I just had to get rid of it and let go. When I started creating in Clo3D, I told myself to go with the flow and see where it took me.
SENA AMFI student of fashion design
What is your advice for someone who wants to start out in creating Digital Fashion?
My advice would be to get into it with an open mind and not be too intimidated by the program, just get inspired and play with the tools that you have. Something cool will come out of it.
IOANA product designer.
What was the biggest challenge, and how did you overcome it? I think my biggest challenge was starting to play around with the freestyle part. I was always wondering what I like to design because I like so many things. And now, when I look back at what I am doing, It comes back to this natural inspiration, so I really want to look at how to translate natural/organic shapes into physical pieces. I would like to try using different materials and biomimicry. Working this way helped me to realise what I want, and now I have a direction.
EVA Lecturer at Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Basel (HGK)
What doors have opened while you did the course? Too many to count, I think:). Doors to: my own creativity, to what I can still learn, to the various fields, to what people actually can do with Clo3d (for example, the people who came, lecturers). I also got insights into what the future will or can be and the insides of great people working who work in this industry. Also, many great women, that kind of excited me!
LAURA Product Developer Apparel and Accessories at Shimano
Which skill or technique in Clo3D do you feel most proud of mastering?
The technique that I am most proud of is that I am able to change the position of the body-scanned avatar and make sure that the clothes fit this new position.
JEROEN fashion designer and owner of JEROEN VAN TUYL
What will you do differently after You finish the course?
I will work more in the digital environment in Clo3D. I will explore more possibilities that I get with this new tool.
