The collection of commemorative banknotes by Tuan Vuong Trong

The whole series of commemorative banknotes ranging in value from 100 CZK - 5.000 CZK works with motifs of Czech applied art. It follows the iconic works of Czech artists and/or designers over the past 100 years. Tuan Vuong worked with motifs of the Art Nouveau artist/designer Franta Anýž, the Cubist ceramic jar "Krystal" by Pavel Janák, the "Build the Town" kit by Ladislav Sutnar, porcelain statuettes of mares and stallions by Jaroslav Ježek, an inflatable buffalo by Libuše Niklová and the contemporary "Neverending Glory" lamps by Jan Plecháč and Henry Wielgus. The motifs of this collection are a symbol and a representative sample of national wealth.

This project was preceded by cooperation between (UMPRUM) the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague and the State Printing Works of Securities on the project "Banknotes and personal documents through the eyes of UMPRUM students". For two semesters, students of the Studio of Type Design and Typography and the Studio of Graphic Design and Visual Communications examined this assignment not only taking into account the visual appearance but above all else making sure to incorporate all of the necessary protective elements and other design essentials.

The success of the collaboration between UMPRUM and the State Printing Works of Securities is evident in Tuan Vuong Truong's project and the fact the project was printed into commemorative banknotes and did not stay just as a proposal.
