The individual studios highlight various areas of the fields of design, from industrial and product design, through interior design, clothing and footwear and material design. The importance of studio training, in which artistic concept is combined with scientific and technical work, as well as training in the subjects of history of art and art philosophy continues to grow in the master’s degree level. The course is conceived to expand and deepen the knowledge and skills that students have acquired during bachelor’s studies of design specialisms at UMPRUM and other colleges.

The graduates of the follow-up master’s program in design are distinctive, active, independent and creatively thinking artistic personalities with initiative. During the course they master the basic principles of creative work and are capable of seeking and finding inventive and conceptually valuable solutions, asserting a personal approach to public orders, develop their own creative field and lead and solve extensive projects while satisfying the highest demands on aesthetic standards and technical knowledge. Following graduation, graduates should be capable not only of managing a team of colleagues, but also of implementing independent projects in the sphere of industrial or studio production with crossovers into art design. Graduates in all specialisms have the prerequisites to continue successfully on to the doctoral stage become valid members of research teams, work in leading positions of promotional departments in industrial enterprises, lead creative teams in a large design studio or establish their own studios.
