The event took place at Ledunit in Riga, Latvia, with the support of the partner institution, the Art Academy of Latvia, and FashionTex. A total of 24 students from 11 European universities presented their projects at the show, including Alžběta Valentová and Kateřina Puchmertová from UMPRUM in Prague.

Sport and animal symbolism were the themes explored by our students Kateřina Puchmertlová and Alžbeta Valentová.

In their projects, both students combined modern technologies with precise craftsmanship.

Alžbeta Valentová’s project explores supernatural power and the symbolism of the stag. Using modern technologies and synthetic materials, she seeks new connections between materials and concepts. The look consists of a semi-transparent coat-style dress with a deep neckline. A sculpted neck piece, together with an element attached to a leather belt, imitates antlers. The final look is completed with airbrushed tights, leather gloves, and a bag-within-a-bag design.

Kateřina Puchmertlová’s look combines the aesthetics of vintage tennis apparel with the elegance of luxury fashion. Its key element is a sculpting catsuit inspired by Serena Williams, who wore compression garments to help manage blood clot complications following pregnancy and childbirth. The catsuit is complemented by a detachable skirt that references the traditional feminine tennis silhouette. The outfit also includes a cashmere sweater and a leather backpack designed and constructed to accommodate a tennis racket. The look is completed with redesigned heeled sneakers.

Both students completed their looks during an intensive two-week creative residency at the Makerspace in Riga, hosted by the Art Academy of Latvia.
